Grand River Transit (GRT) is the main public transportation system for the Waterloo Region, covering Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Elmira, and New Hamburg. It was formed in 2000 by combining the older Kitchener and Cambridge transit services. GRT runs over 50 bus routes and travels more than 16 million kilometers each year. It has 250 buses and 35 special MobilityPLUS vehicles, with over 2,500 stops and 560 shelters across the region. 

Annual ridership of GRT in 2023 was 26.38 millions, and as of August 2024, it is 17.93 million in this year.
